I’ve been on an AW25 Fashion Week street style roll this month, and we’re two cities down with three to go. Next stop is London Fashion Week (LFW) where we’ll look at five key street style trends.
Before we dive into LFW, a quick recap of reader polls for Copenhagen and New York street style trends. Thank you to everyone that voted! You were most excited about everything moto and bag charms in Copenhagen and brooches and gray outfits in New York1. Stellar choices all around, and I’ll be forming a support group for those of us wearing big collars and layered belts this year.

5 Street Style Trends from LFW
London Fashion Week is known for its experimental fashion and fostering emerging designer talent. Remember Stella McCartney’s Central Saint Martins graduation show? London Fashion Week in 1995. Alexander McQueen’s iconic No. 13 runway show with Shalom Harlow? London Fashion Week in 1998. Anya Hindmarch’s Chubby Cloud installation? London Fashion Week in 2018.
LFW was a smaller event this season with some brands pulling out or changing their show formats unexpectedly, spurred by a weakened luxury sector, Brexit, and the demise of Matches Fashion. Shows wrapped up Monday with a smaller turnout for showgoers and street style photographers, but there was still a solid base of images for trend spotting.
While London street style shared several common themes with Copenhagen and New York (animal prints, bag charms, brooches, brown, cinched waists, faux fur, texture, and ties are still going strong), it reflected the avant-garde spirit of the runway alongside an undercurrent of heritage British prep for its own unique vibe.
Punk Plaid
A key theme across LFW street style was plaids with an edge. Echoing London’s punk roots, plaid was styled as a full-on look in contrasting patterns, clashing colors, and subversive cuts.
Find It Preloved: ThredUp is a treasure trove for every iteration of plaid. Their new AI search suite delivered spot-on items for the term “punk plaid”, turning up this unbranded mini skirt with a heart charm waist belt, this Free People layered shirt, and these R13 skinny jeans.
Into a more traditional plaid? There’s also this J.Crew ruffled tartan skirt, this Miss Selfridge cropped blazer, and this Burberry classic belt.
Unconventional Suiting
Turning minimalism on its head, LFW showgoers wore their suiting and tailored pieces in unexpected ways with ultra-baggy bottoms, bermuda shorts, corset details, sheer tights as pants, and printed trousers.
Find It Preloved: The RealReal’s Back to Work category is bursting with tailored pieces that can be paired back to what’s already in your closet. This The Row black tie waist jacket, this Bruno Cucinelli double breasted pantsuit, and this Toteme statement collar trench are the perfect foil to these Peter Do distressed wide leg jeans, these Bottega Veneta knee-length leather shorts, and this Dion Lee corset skirt.
Make It Semi-Sustainable: Tights are trickier to find secondhand, but Swedish Stockings is a responsible firsthand brand making legwear from recycled and bio-based materials. You can find the sheer brown tights seen all over street style plus this leopard option to infuse some LFW edge into your wardrobe.
Modern Sophisticate
Showgoers put a 2025 twist on ladylike dressing, juxtaposing textured sheers with utilitarian jackets, pastels with fur and leather, and slingbacks with socks.
Find It Preloved: Vestiaire Collective's luxe vintage collection is the epitome of sophisticated style. This Yves Saint Laurent burgundy wool skirt, these Dior pointy flats, and this Louis Vuitton cashmere bow neck sweater are a fantastic contrast to more modern designs like this Retrofete sheer blouse, this Stand Studio faux fur coat, and this Jean Paul Gaultier fitted leather jacket.
Make It Semi-Sustainable: I had to come back to Swedish Stockings since this is the best trend for statement legwear, like these sky blue lace tights that are haunting me, these sheer pastel knee-highs, and these delicate crochet socks crying out for a kitten heel moment.
Black & White
A repeated color theme across LFW was a simple black and white combo with styling that leaned more delicate than tough. Attendees used this color palette to express themselves through prints, texture, and lace detailing, showcasing their personal style with playful accessories, bags, and jewelry.
Find It Preloved: This is the ideal trend to shop your closet with a secondhand piece or two mixed in. This Cynthia Rowley sheer white skirt, this Ulla Johnson polka dot top, and this Roland Mouret layerable dress are all under $100 on The RealReal.
Soft Prep
Prep was infused with a softer feel at LFW. Tulle, ruching, eyelets, and ruffles intermixed with traditional preppy icons like loafers with socks and classic sweaters.
Find It Preloved: Depop has an entire category devoted to preppy style, heavy on American brands like J.Crew, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger. This Tommy Hilfiger v-neck tennis sweater and this Ralph Lauren white eyelet skirt paired back to these G.H. Bass black penny loafers are the perfect soft prep outfit formula.
That’s it for this week, thanks for reading! Do any of these trends resonate with you? What’s been your favorite fashion week street style trend so far? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments.
Another winner, Tina! I loved this round-up of street looks. I love punk plaid (I have a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood skirt), love suiting, love black and white. I do more of a "soft goth" look than prep, but I love the vibe! These are all my people!
I love black and white for a clean look!
