The October Trend Report
Six things to know this month from slob chic to the key fashion colors in your feeds
Welcome to the first Monthly Trend Report for paid subscribers - a huge thank you for being here. Today we’ll cover six themes, looking at three topics and three trends in the fashion landscape. I’ve been watching these for varying lengths of time - three years for the evolution of red, a year+ for Trader Joe’s tote bags, and just over a month for the 2025 version of slob chic. The fashion trends inside are extensions of what we saw at fashion month shifting from street style to social feeds.
Color, Silho, Texture
As we’re coming off SS26 Fashion Week, wearability looms large and consumers are pulling away from quiet luxury to something with more personality and bite. Color, silhouette, and texture are the new heroes in a formerly beige world: WGSN has named Bold Minimalism1 and texture as the new luxury as key trends coming out of Paris Fashion Week.
Color will be a defining attribute for trends. Neutrals will continue as an outfit anchor into 2026 with pastels and brights acting as a counterpoint to lift black, brown, navy, and gray. Mocha Mousse was polarizing when it was first introduced by Pantone last year, but it’s been prescient for AW25 where much of what we’re seeing in our feeds and at retail falls into this spectrum.
