Two Skirts, One Top, Endless Outfits
It's basic fashion math
A new month and another week of outfit repeating is here. Last month I intentionally wore my preloved blazer five days in a row to see how creative I could get now that my brain has space for things that aren’t school. This month I’m back to my regularly scheduled programming of unintentionally wearing the same items multiple days a week. When I like an outfit, I really like an outfit, and have zero shame in repeats upon repeats upon repeats.
I’m all in on the sheer trend and got this sheer linen skirt from
a couple of months back. It was perfect other than a 90s low rise, easily updated to my ideal ultra high waist with a trip to the tailor. The weather was on the edge of being warm enough for bare legs last week and I promptly wore this skirt into the ground.I also ended up repeating my denim maxi when the weather dipped back into summer gloves territory. This is the best skirt for San Francisco since the fabric is thick enough for year-round wear and the ankle length is windproof. The bone colorway makes my outfits that much more elevated vs the traditional blue denim.
What made these looks infinitely repeatable is that they’re simple variations of a skirt and t-shirt brought to life with different layering combos. An easy piece of fashion math to zhuzh up your base outfit with jewelry, belts, footwear, and jackets.
Sheer Skirt Outfit 1: Minimalist
I was inspired to pull out my secondhand Stand Studio vegan leather shirt as my top layer for errands across neighborhoods with different microclimates. I prefer my clothing to look pristine (an impossible feat, ik) and haven’t been wearing my shirt because of the dreaded vegan peel. I was reminded about
’s wise thoughts on patina, got over myself, and ended up loving my outfit.

Sheer Skirt Outfit 2: Slightly Western
The weather was on the chilly side, so I threw on my Nanushka Western blazer jacket (one of my best-ever
finds) over my white t-shirt and linen skirt base to meet a new friend for coffee on the other side of the city. The contrast in sheer and heavy fabrics made this outfit more visually interesting than wearing everything in the same textile weight, and I was cozy enough to walk most of the way home.
I’m a huge jewelry person and my jewelry is mostly Catbird, which made my walk home especially fortuitous with a pit stop into the Catbird store. I tell everyone about their permanently welded Forever Bracelets, the ultimate low cost per wear piece - I’m six years in on my Sweet Nothing bracelet, which is about four cents a day. I got my Twin Hearts bracelet last year as a way to commemorate my beloved senior dog and am itching to get a third bracelet. A truly unique experience if you’re looking for a way to honor a big life event, a friendship, or a loved one.
If you’re not into jewelry, but are into little treats, Catbird’s glitter nail polish1 is the only one I’ve ever hit bottom on. I went with a new color last week to combine the dregs of my old silver with my new gold glitter. I have zero beauty skills and slop this on and it still looks good enough to be regularly asked what nail polish I’m wearing. Mine also tends to peel off after a couple of weeks since I layer it on so thickly and I haven’t had to invest in nail polish remover yet - win/win.
Sheer Skirt Outfit 3: Slightly Scandi
This was actually my skirt’s first outing of the week, but has to be featured last thanks to me only taking this sad trombone of an outfit selfie. Don’t discount sheer skirts for their versatility - mine carried me across two vastly different scenarios: a coffee shop LinkedIn and Lattes with my friends followed by a wild2 Girl’s Night Out. Wearing this outfit base with my Derek Lam fringe jacket via TRR and Ganni Buckle Ballerinas made me feel like I could attend Copenhagen Fashion Week one day, the pinnacle of everything responsible fashion and my dream destination.
Denim Skirt Outfit 1: Tonal Chic
My Still Here denim maxi had its time to shine when SF reverted back to its inevitable 60 degree June temperature. I styled this with a twist on last week’s tonal ivory outfit, layering a sweater vest and blazer over my t-shirt base to stay warm.
My blazer came back from the dry cleaners without a dirt smudge in sight (my bags had not been kind to the light fabric). As I was walking out the door I had visions of the dirt from my tote bag3 transferring right back onto my freshly cleaned blazer, and swapped this out for my hardier gray Bea blazer.
Denim Skirt Outfit 2: Sporty
I took my denim skirt out for a solo LinkedIn and Lattes and switched it up with contrasting colors. My regular knotted in the front/sweater as a scarf was feeling stale, so I repurposed my go-to gym jacket styling and tied my sweater crossbody. I’ve been teetering on the edge of listing my Everlane cardigan with
, but crossbody styling gave it new life, so I’m hanging onto this for the foreseeable.
